Animals can form deep bonds with each other, even across different species. This is the case with G-Bro, a golden retriever, and Buttons, a rescued deer, who have shared a special friendship for over 10 years.
More than a decade ago, G-Bro’s owner heard about a deer that had been injured in a car accident. Without knowing much about caring for a deer, she decided to step in and bring the animal home. This decision turned out to be a wonderful one.
Lorrie, G-Bro’s owner, rushed to help when she learned about the deer’s injury. While she hoped the deer could live freely in the wild again one day, she also wanted it to feel safe with her family.
Once Buttons recovered fully, it was time to let her return to her natural home. However, Buttons had other plans. She didn’t want to leave her new family, especially G-Bro, and chose to stay close.
Even after being released back into the wild, Buttons would often visit her human and animal friends. She came around frequently, and if no one answered the door right away, she would gently paw at it to let them know she was there to visit.
One day, everyone was surprised when Buttons showed up with two fawns in tow. She had brought her babies to meet G-Bro and the family. G-Bro immediately took a liking to the fawns and has been by their side ever since, helping in any way she can.
