A cat that lost all four paws due to extreme cold is now able to walk again, thanks to a special solution from veterinarians.
Dymka, a 4-year-old cat, was found by a driver in the snow and brought to a clinic, according to Komsomolskaya Pravda. Her paws, ears, and tail had suffered severe frostbite, and the veterinarian had to remove the damaged parts, as reported by The Moscow Times.
Many cats suffer from frostbite during the cold months, and in severe cases, the affected limbs need to be removed, explained Dr. Gorshkov to The Moscow Times.
To give Dymka a chance at a normal life, Dr. Gorshkov and his team worked with experts from Tomsk Polytechnic University to create titanium prosthetics for her.
Dymka first received prosthetic paws on her front legs, followed by the back ones, as mentioned by Novosibirsk News.
A video shared by the veterinary clinic shows Dymka happily walking, exploring her surroundings, and playing, seven months after receiving her new paws.
We’re thrilled that Dymka now has a chance for a happy life with her new titanium feet!
