Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials had spotted this moose a few years ago with a tire stuck around its neck.
For two long years, the moose struggled with the tire, but now it’s finally free.
Wildlife officer Scott Murdoch explained that it was hard to get close to the moose.
Every time officers tried to help, the moose would run away. However, after some time, they were finally able to catch him.
With a tip from a local resident, wildlife officer Dawson Swanson helped track down the moose.
Once they found him, they used a tranquilizer to calm him down. Removing the tire was tough, but they managed to do it.
Sadly, they had to cut off the moose’s antlers in order to remove the tire. But the moose is doing well and will grow new antlers soon.
The most important part is that he is healthy and free now.
Scott Murdoch called it a miracle that the moose didn’t get injured while wearing the tire for so long.
Thanks to the efforts of these caring officers, the moose now has a much better life.
