Discover the mesmerizing 3D street art of Braga last1, the creative alias of 33-year-old street artist Tom Bragado Blanco hailing from Marseille, France. Known for his skill in captivating and bewildering viewers, Blanco’s latest masterpiece features a colossal sphynx cat seamlessly integrated into the midst of a field.

Opting for an unconventional canvas, Blanco transformed an old gas tank into a captivating optical illusion. The sphynx cat, a breed native to Canada recognized for its hairless appearance, takes on the role of an enchanting illusion within Blanco’s artwork.

The gas tank, upon the completion of Blanco’s artistry, metamorphoses into a striking 3D painting. The final result presents a massive gray sphynx cat concealed in the grass, locking eyes with a dog as its owner endeavors to keep them apart.

Delving into Blanco’s creative choices, he intentionally selected the sphynx cat for personal significance, stating: “I used this cat because it is my girlfriend’s cat. During this confinement period, I am inspired by what we have around us”.

The colossal feline took approximately two and a half days to bring to life.
Employing the technique of anamorphosis, Blanco elucidates that the optical illusion is effective from a specific vantage point. He explains: “It works from one point of view. You have to put yourself at that exact point to see the optical illusion, so I took some points so that it would work. I had to take a picture of the tank to see if it worked for the optical illusion. It’s quite complicated to explain”.

Blanco’s artistic journey traces back to childhood, and he is entirely self-taught. His passion for street art initially led him to customize T-shirts, sneakers, and caps.

Over time, he received numerous individual commissions, ranging from frescoes for children’s rooms to trompe-l’oeil installations in public spaces.

Blanco’s artistic portfolio extends to collaborations with hotels, theaters, restaurants, and various businesses, showcasing the versatility and widespread appeal of his creative talents.
